How to Prepare Your Taxes with Mint

In this lesson, I show you how to prepare your taxes in the simplest way possible. I hate doing taxes and dread it more than just about anything I can think of, so I had to find a way to make this FAST and EASY.

I recommend using free software, Mint.com. I show you how to set it up and get your bank accounts and credit cards linked. Mint will then automatically be synced and it will categorize your income and expenses for you.

The initial set up will take maybe an hour or so to get your categories all configured. After that, (monthly or quarterly), you can go into Mint and check your categories and make sure everything is set up the way you want.

Once you have Mint.com configured, once a year at tax time you can download a spreadsheet which I show you how to modify in Google Sheets (or Excel or Numbers) and that is what you will share with your accountant.

All in all, this whole process should take you no more than a few hours every year.
